How to dress a turkey?

Before marinating, the butterball turkeys must be rinsed, dried with a paper towel, and rubbed with salt.

We need 2 tsp Cajun spice mix for the marinade, 1/2 cup Kitchen mayonnaise, and 1/4 cup Dijon mustard. Prepare a mixture for marinating oven fried turkey: in a separate bowl, combine mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and Cajun spice mix.

To make the Cajun spice mix, we need:

  • Freshly ground black pepper, 1 tbsp
  • Onion powder 1 tbsp

Mix all the spices well, use a silicone brush to grease the turkey with a pickling mixture on both sides.

You can replace Dijon mustard with regular and not hot mustard. You can also add a few drops of hot sauce to the marinade for piquancy, but this did not count. Cover the turkey with cling film and refrigerate for at least 8 hours, preferably overnight.

Stuffing — How to dress a turkey

To stuff the turkey, we need: 

  • Celery 3 stalks
  • Onion 1 piece
  • Butter 100 g
  • Chicken broth, 400 ml
  • Croutons — Country stuffing 350 g (croutons covered with different spices, I added nuts and seeds there).

It is not necessary to use just these. You can cook to your liking.

Is it safe to stuffed oven fried?

If you’re stuffed oven fried turkey with a bread filling, make sure the center of the meat to 165 °F (ca. 74 °C). You will need a long thermometer to walk and check the turkey. But it is safe if cooked at the right temperature.

1. Cut the celery lengthwise into three pieces, and then finely chop it into cubes. Cut the onion in half, make longitudinal cuts, and then also chop finely into cubes.

6. Send the preheated oven to 392 °F (ca. 200 °C) for about 3 hours. Cooking time depends on the weight of your oven fried turkey. Check the temperature at the end from time to time (using a meat thermometer in the deepest part of the breast without touching the bones!) until it reaches 165 °F (ca. 74 °C).

  • If the turkey’s crust burns, cover it with foil.
